Abstract:

Many photographs of bands and musicians peforming in Berkeley, Oakland, and the San Francisco Bay Area, and sometimes elsewhere in California. Also, photographs of other public figures. Berkeley photographs include the UC Berkeley campus, anti-Vietnam War protests, People's Park, Provo Park hippies, and the Berkeley Jazz Festival. Other subjects include childbirth and Brainen's work for the 1980 book Baby dance, the Oakland Women's Rowing Club, and extensive documentation of the 1976 Ringling Brothers Circus.
